Are we all living in the most realistic video game of all time? I’m not sure. While looking into the idea of reincarnation and having a conversation about past lives, our conversation continued, evolved, and was impossible to ignore talking about the SIMULATION THEORY or SIMULATION HYPOTHESIS. While seemingly a relatively modern concept (perhaps because of the usage of terminology like “computers”) it’s actually been thought about even as far back as Zhuang Zhou in 370 BC, and even perhaps in ...

Since we started this podcast, we’ve noticed that sometimes we just have to “give in” to whatever it is out there - in the universe - that may be steering us in a direction we hadn’t planned for, in regards to episode topic. Sometimes something just lands in our field of vision that ends up occupying our minds so fully that we spend every waking hour we can reading, discovering, and thinking about that particular phenomenon, concept, idea, theory, or event. That’s exactly what happened this we...

It’s time to dump out all your candy on the floor, eat a few handfuls of your favorites, and in the midst of a sugar rush talk about all the fun you had this Halloween. In this week’s episode, we talk about the importance of NEVER trying the so-called “healthy candy” and just going for the good stuff...otherwise - you might end up with a dental emergency much like Woody ended up having. You’ll hear our thoughts about the latest in the Halloween movie franchise “Halloween Kills”, the amazing pr...

Well, spooky friends - it is finally here! Halloween is upon us - and we couldn’t be more excited. We put together something extra special and extra spooky for you once again this year - 4 terrifying tales that prove that horror is all around us. First, a ghastly ghost story from the pages of a dusty volume from our shelves...a book published in 1875 called “Glimpses of the Supernatural” by The Rev. Frederick George Lee. But don’t stop there - you’ll want to keep listening as the terror unfo...

On Halloween, 1962, the sleepy town of Willowpoint Falls wakes up forever. Locked overnight in the school cloakroom, the victim of a Halloween prank, young Frankie Scarlatti witnesses an eerie apparition - a girl- ghost in the grip of a mysterious killer. Join us this week as we talk about one of our ...

In a small, rural region of southern France amongst the 75 miles of hills, valleys, and rugged mountains...a true monster once roamed. Between the years of 1764 and 1767, a mysterious man-eating creature took the lives of hundreds. This rural area, at the time known as "Gévaudan", was just as mysterious as its monster...simply referred to as "The Beast". Gévaudan had the reputation for being a remote, isolated region, where the forces of nature had not been fully tamed, and where the forests ...

There seem to be objects in this world that draw to themselves some sort of mysterious, dark energy. For whatever reasons unexplained forces, spirits, entities, or curses are said to gravitate towards these items, imbuing them with some ominous quality beyond our ability to explain or even comprehend. This week we kick off our annual “October Spooktacular” with one such baffling object. One that turned up for sale on the Internet nearly 20 years ago and ever since has stirred the imagination ...

Cryptic codes, alter egos, psychological experiments, time travel, eternal life, multiple personality disorder, ingenious marketing, secret identity, alternate reality, time travel… This week on our show we talk about one of the strangest mysteries we never knew existed. One that, on the surface level, initially seems: easy to solve, shallow, and perhaps even non-existent. But, like us, as you delve deeper and deeper into the interesting story that is “Andrew W.K.” - you begin to realize the ...

Books teach us, inform us, broaden our minds, entertain us, and at times they can provoke us. But some books plainly befuddle us. They invoke mysteries that hint of something ancient, extraterrestrial, or possibly divine. On this week’s episode we discuss some of the most intriguing, strange, mysterious, and at times hilarious texts ever discovered...some perhaps dating back as far as the 13th century. You may have heard of the “VOYNICH MANUSCRIPT” before - but, some of these ancient texts w...

This week Tyler pulled a fast one on Woody by surprising him with a totally different episode topic. This is, of course, after both he and Woody had decided on a topic, prepared for the show, done the research, and clicked the "record" button... Although traditionally Tyler is pretty bad at spoilers, he kept this one close to the chest until the very last minute. This week we talk about The Falkville Metal Man (sometimes referred to as the "Metal Man of Falkville" or "The Alabama Metal Man"). ...

Is it true that we are taking a small break between Season 1 and Season 2 of our podcast? Yes. BUT, that doesn’t mean that you won’t have anything to listen to between now and the AMAZING Season 2 premiere. This week we have something special for you - for the first time ever we’re releasing one of the many “pre-show” conversations we had before one of our Season 1 episodes... This is literally the essence of why we started our podcast and frankly may even capture what our telephone conversa...

This week marks our 50th episode AND our Season 1 finale. It's also the final week of our summer theme CAMP RAD STRANGENESS. We could think of no better way to "close up camp" than to talk about the terrifying lake that is literally right in our backyard...Lake Lanier. It's one of the busiest lakes in Georgia, and sadly also one of the deadliest in America. The lake's origins are mired in controversy, entire communities were relocated, abandoned, and still exist under the 625 billion gallons ...

Friday the 13th will land on the week this episode is released. What better time, as we are winding down our summer of CAMP RAD STRANGENESS, to finally celebrate and talk about one of the greatest and certainly highest-grossing horror movie franchises… This week we talk about ALL the FRIDAY THE 13TH movies! Despite being panned by critics - horror fans have kept these movies alive and made Jason Voorhees one of the most iconic characters of all time. Woody took on the challenge to watch every ...

For two years between 1896 and 1897, the skies of North America were invaded by a wave of airships. Some looked like UFOs as we know them today, while many more resembled futuristic dirigibles. On last week’s episode you already heard of the alleged airship crash in Aurora, Texas, in 1897...BUT - did you know that there were many other alleged airship crashes in places like Kalamazoo, Michigan, and Iowa Falls, Iowa? Did a Martian crash-land in Lanark, Illinois? Was the dream of a little girl ...

When you hear the phrase “UFO crash,” you probably think of Roswell, New Mexico in 1947. But - slow down a second...did you know that 50 years earlier on April 17, 1897, a mysterious "airship" allegedly crashed in Aurora, Texas? Not only that but The Dallas Morning News reported at the time that the airship pilot, who was killed in the crash, was “not an inhabitant of this world.” The body of the reportedly alien pilot was buried in the local cemetery. Now, you might dismiss this all as a TEX...

Shortly after the end of WWII an American Christian missionary, who was called to serve in a small village in the Philippines, came face to face with a terrifying creature that shook him to his core. An entity so vile it made him question everything he knew or even believed. Deep in the darkest heart of the Philippines sits an evil, shapeshifting creature that shares the grotesque characteristics of werewolves, vampires, and ghouls. It has no consistent image or description because its appeara...

All of us here at That Would Be Rad have spent the first month of summer re-watching our favorite summer camp slashers, and even some that we had never seen before...(as heard on our previous episode S1 E42). So many of them were filmed in the '80s and while that's, of course, part of what draws us toward them...to say that it was "REFRESHING" that an upcoming horror movie was set in the '90s would be an understatement. The timing couldn't have been more perfect for Netflix to release the firs...

We all have those songs that take us right back to a specific time, a specific place, and maybe even with a specific person. Songs that make us reminisce about old friends, days filled with no responsibility, and perhaps even make us feel like they were written just for us. THIS WEEK we give you a list of our favorite songs that no matter where we are, or even what season... they take us away immediately to warm, sunny, summer days. This idea started as a short list of 5 songs each that we w...

In this week's episode, we take you to New Orleans, Louisiana. Aka "The Big Easy", it's much more well known for its round-the-clock nightlife, vibrant live-music scene, spicy cuisine...and of course raucous costumed parades and street parties, like the annual Mardi Gras festival. It’s easy to forget, or perhaps even...ignore...the terrifying things lurking in the shadows of New Orleans. There are a few cryptid creatures that garner most of the attention in and around this area of Louisiana.....

It's a solid fact that we can't talk about summer camp without also talking about one of our favorite subgenres of horror movies... the Summer Camp Slasher! Let's face it - we grew up with some great, iconic franchises in the Summer Camp Slasher genre. The first few that come to mind of course being the FRIDAY THE 13TH movies and SLEEPAWAY CAMP - but, we wanted to find some really good from the '80s that we hadn't necessarily seen yet. We immediately stumbled across THE BURNING - a 1981 relea...

What a perfect way to kick off our summer at Camp Rad Strangeness than to talk about The Valley of Headless Men and the insane stuff that’s happened there over the last century! This week we take you to the Northwestern Territories of Canada, to this day some of the world's most untouched wilderness. Filled with gigantic mountain ranges, incredibly dense forests, vast rivers, hot springs, and teaming with wildlife...the area has always been a nature lover's dream. But, deep within this remote...

It's not every day that we get a chance to talk about our first love...SONGWRITING. We love being creative, we love storytelling, and it all started for us by writing songs together. This week we talk about how we were finally able to get together in person to do some songwriting! We talk about our process, other artists that influenced us throughout the years, and of course, even do a little workshopping with Jamie Lee Foxx. 😉 Don't miss a throwback story from when Woody convinces the band ...
